This would be kind of depressing for me to read if I had made this website.
This is not too bad just it should not break the calc community into even smaller pieces. that will just end up hurting everyone
I currently don't do much, but I am a developer for a game you should totally try out called AssaultCube Reloaded download here https://assaultcuber.codeplex.com/

My edits keep getting ninja'd...

We basically have no rights. Additionally, [I believe] the legal precedent is that where the site is hosted determines what laws it falls under. Omnimaga is hosted in the US, so it's US copyright laws that are important.

Us copyright laws are crap though(at least from what I know). I think your right it is the country its hosted in that matters.

Is it only under international law if it is in multiple countries?

I think we should have a different topic for discussing copyrights and leave this fr annoyingoranges site.

There's an implied copyright on everything you make. Basically, if you ever put the word Copyright or the copyright symbol anywhere on your work, you have a claim to go to court :D
I did not put a (C) symbol near the Omni stuff at the bottom of every page saying 2001-2011, the Omnimaga project, because IMHO I did not create everything on the site. Example: we use someone else's forum software to run the site, which is copyrighted to SimpleMachines. I do not think we would have a chance in court anyway, though, because no big money is involved. It would just be unethical from other people part to be stealing the Omni name to use it on their own website, especially a calc one. Also since Omni is popular, maybe his site would also rise in Google rankings and gets most members we would have gotten instead, even though it's not the real Omnimaga site.

Also as people and myself said before, there are way too many calculator forums. It was a wonder Omni even worked in 2005. I did not want a forum on the site, but people wanted one so I made one anyway. It was only created because there was demand for one. If there was no demand, it migth have been even harder to attract members. Heck, even with a few demand, the site had hard times at first. I had like 40% of all forum posts, replying to almost everything, for the first 6 months, then about 25% of the entire activity was in the spam section. The site was a lot popular because of my featured ticalc.org games at the time and people came because I only posted there, else when I was absent for a while, it was nearly dead. Today it happened to work well, but we sure got through lots of hard times to get where we are. It is even harder in a niche community like the TI one. Since there are already many other forums and the TI community is not big like some gaming ones, when someone starts (and advertise) another calc forum, he is not happy, because we already had an hard time keeping members around. Just one and half a year ago, Cemetech averaged at like 15 posts per day, if not less.

Anyway good luck. (I edited the topic title by the way)

There is no reason to get all up-tight about copyright stuff.   annoyingorange obviously knows nothing about the matter, and made it out of naivety.  I don't think it's a bad idea, though, I think it's a rather stupid one.  There are, as qwerty nicely put it, not enough people to fill the fora already.  I don't think yours will attract many if any at all.

Annoyingorange, I'll put it simply. You have, in a nutshell, arrived at this forum, offended people, asked a handful of incredibly nonspecific questions, attempted to split our userbase, then posted proudly about it. In times such as these, when TI's OS updates are nothing short of acts of war, the community needs to be strong and unified. There are, as others have said, too many fora.

Creating a webs.com site and posting it here is not only pointless and detrimental to the hobbyist community as a whole, but disrespects our staff by asserting that anyone can run a successful forum with little effort. In case you hadn't noticed, the manager of this site recently resigned as a moderator due to the mental and physical stress brought on by maintaining the site.

In the future, think before you post.
See you, space cowboy...

Annoyingorange, I don't think it is wrong to have a website of your own that goes about calcs. I have one too that just goes about my projects. But I think making a forum isn't a great idea, since there excist many many calc fora.

Also if that 'mario' game that you uploaded on your site is not yours, I don't think it's really nice to do so.
If you really want to have a website, I would advice to have something like a blog or so where you write about your project(s)?
Then, if there are people who are interested in your project(s), they might reply on some of your articles.

Also, "Tommorrow" is written incorrect.

It's definitely his, don't worry.

That's a good idea :) It takes a big userbase to start a forum, remember.

Yeah, I would really recommend starting a blog or something similar if you would like your own website. Making a "forum" (on webs.com no less) is just all around a waste of time. Look into Google's Blogger service, sign up, and start writing away. You won't make anyone angry with that (unless you call it Omnimaga again)

Yeah I think he just didn't make his own sprites yet or used someone's sprites here.
