From what I saw on TI-BANK, the price was apparently similar to their other calcs. Maybe it's just the reseller selling them for much higher, though.

I doubt the calc will be any cheaper than the Prizm. The only reason why people would buy it is if due to the larger amount of games available for the calc being released or teachers trying to push the 84+. I bet this will change over the years when Prizm ASM/C games come out.

I still like my 84+ for the faster BASIC language than the Prizm and the selection of games, but nowadays I use my Prizm more otherwise.

It's certain Omni will continue to focus on the 84+ and a bit on the TI-Nspire, but I bet in the future we'll have more and more Prizm coders  and the amount will be even with TI-Nspire coders.

I wonder if it uses an asic with 48k or 128k of ram. I still don't know why they would use 1 mb flash, a 2 mb is the same size physically for $.02 more.
It is bad luck to be superstitious.

I would only buy this if it had the extra ram pages.  It seems that the drawbacks outweigh the small size.  :(

I still want another 83 plus family calc, though...

@Freyaday, you could buy one online, it's prob. a reg 84+ with the French app factory installed, from what I hear.

Also, Extra RAM pages != 84+ Archive space, they are different :P but it almost definitely won't have them, since it's just a small 84+, and New.

A much more realistic picture of the new TI-84 Pocket.fr has been released today:
http://ti.bank.free.fr/index.php?mod=news&ac=commentaires&id=1107

The design seems to have been altered.

Which picture is your favorite?

Nice! Personally, aside from the top border that looks a bit too slim to me and the small keys, I like it better than the regular 84+ that went straight from black to white. I like the colors of the 2nd one and in the real picture rather than the virtual one, personally.

Was the slidecase finally included or is it still unknown?

It looks nice... Not much smaller than the normal 84, but smaller nonetheless.

On the other hand, I just realized something: Since it was released after OS 2.55MP came out, chances are none of the previous OS versions will work O.O

Why not? The normal 84+ doesn't have any downgrade protection at all. If it's going to have the same feature set as the original 84+, additions to the OS (like what happened with the 83+SE) aren't going to be necessary - you can just put any 84+ compatible OS on it. (Maybe even WFRNG OS ;D)

We never know, though, maybe the hardware will be modified so it is no longer accepting any OS under 2.55MP

EDIT 2.55, not 2.71 X.x

Ah, but that would be a bit stupid of TI. We could just rename 2.43 to 2.55MP. :P
Unless they create something more clever, that is...

It's completely possible. The TI-83 Plus Silver Edition doesn't accept OSes before 1.13, for instance. Same with touchpads and the first clickpad OSes. Earlier OSes just don't take new hardware into account.

Yes, but it doesn't apply if the hardware is the same. I don't think the 84+ Pocket has any new features.

1.12 and older OSes don't run on the TI-83+SE, because of the different unsupported hardware.

But are you sure they aren't installable?...

Who knows. They changed their casing, obviously, so maybe they took the opportunity to do some other "enhancements."
