Maybe. I don't know how much overhead is due to the FlashFX wear-leveling system and how much is due to the Reliance filesystem.

Anyway, the FAT filesystem kind of sucks because it can't be implemented in a way that avoids getting it corrupted in the event of a crash. A simplified example: To create a file, you have to both write a directory entry for it that tells what the file's first cluster is, and write to the File Allocation Table to mark the clusters as used. If the OS crashes after you write the directory entry but before you write to the FAT, now the file exists but is located in space marked as free, so if that space ever gets allocated for a different file, the old file is corrupted. It's better to write to the FAT first, but then if the OS crashes you've got clusters marked as used that aren't really used (this is why in the DOS/Win9x days, free space would diminish over time and you had to run 'scandisk' to recover it).

Modern filesystems - such as Windows NTFS, Linux ext3, and presumably Datalight Reliance - have their data structures set up so that if the OS crashes in the middle of an operation, it's possible to detect the partially-finished operation and "roll back" to the previous valid state.

I heard something about 12 or 13 April for the release of the 3.0 OS for the nspire but i'm not sure about the cx release.

For some reasons, it seems sources from countries other than France and USA are more reliable in general. Stefan Bauwens got told the Nspire won't have extra programming capabilities on his first try. O.O

Didn't I read somewhere that the CX would come out in May by the way? I hope TI won't delay the release over and over, although it would be good for the Prizm sales I guess.

After many requests from angry users to TI-France, it has been officially annonced today that Nspire CX calculators sold in France will include the slidecase.

"France" is clearly mentionned in TI's post.

You can buy the sildecase separately for 3$ in North America.
I don't think I could sell it cheaper (customs, taxes...).

I don't understand why it's so hard for them to include a slide case. It's been their standard for YEARS. Why change all of a sudden?
