TI-Nspire CX officially released at $159.99
« on: June 22, 2011, 02:57:29 pm »
I do not know if this is a few days late or not, but Texas Instruments has finally released the TI-Nspire CX for real now. If you check their website, the TI-Nspire CX pages now shows a "Purchase" link instead of a "COMING SOON" one.

Also the calculator started to appear on Staples website, for $159.99 (wasn't it supposed to be around $145? ???). We do not know if that one includes the Student Software like the $165.00 one on TI website. On Eppstore, the CAS model is available for $175.00 with the student software included.

A few days ago, TI-BANK announced that the TI-Nspire was now in stock on Pixmania and Jarrety (the latter on which a promotion is available for TI-BANK members in France).

This means that in Canada, the regular TI-Nspire CX should cost around $200, as the Touchpad one costs $185.

Ah that's nice to know. On TI website it wasn't available a week ago, as it still said Coming soon.

On Staples canada it's not out yet.

Ah ok. I know on some French stores it was available for a short while, but other stores probably didn't make it available yet. I bet in Canada it will come out when school restarts.

That said, $159.99 makes me relunctant to buy one O.O

Yeah. I mean the Nspire was like $150 and people still found it expensive. Granted, it has better specs than the Casio Prizm, but I bet a lot of parents will still choose the Touchpad or 84+ over the CX. Maybe some people could even go with the Prizm.

I just saw a CX at Staples, it's was indeed around $150-$160, I don't remember much, with a TI-84+ around $50 less expensive.

EDIT: Well I don't see it on their website, it must be pretty new... The 84+ is $147 though.

It's still really expensive...

It is, especially when you consider the official price for a Prizm is $129.99 (same as the official price of a TI-83 Plus lol).

Underwood Distributing is selling the TI-nspire CX CAS for $133.99 which is much lower than $159.99 and suggests that there is some price gougeing going on.  If you buy this device becareful where you buy it.

* fb39ca4 checks their website
Nice! The CAS is $136.95 now, and the normal version is $129.95.
* fb39ca4 smells something fishy going on
