Information Request
« on: March 08, 2011, 12:06:49 pm »
I need information for an editorial I am preparing on TI. It is broad and unbiased and every dubious statement I make will need a citation. I need some information from you guys.

1. How many calculators did Brandon Wilson brick? What was he doing that caused this? And over what time period did this occur?
(If BrandonW answers here, we are good. If someone else answers, I will need a link to where he says this.)

*I'll be adding more questions as this thing comes to fruition.

I think there's only one calc he bricked that he couldn't restore, but it was intentional. I don't know when he said it, and I'm not sure if I remember it correctly.

Mic bricked his TI-Nspire via USB due to a glitch with OS 2.0.0, but I don't remember where's the topic about it. OS 2.0.1 was quickly released afterward.

I was talking to brandonW about this. It could be anywhere between 2-4, but I feel like he bricked 3, (he bricked all that he had at the time).

He was trying to install the 05 key in the certificate to allow third party OS's to be installed by being signed with the 05 key. Free83p, was the end result of this.

I think he bricked all of them within a week.

But it should be known that he recovered all of them using a boot code hack. So as of like November, he hasn't permanently bricked any.

You can build a statue out of either 1'x1' blocks or 12'x12' blocks. The 1'x1' blocks will take a lot longer, but the final product is worth it.

Didn't that program also allowed a calculator with neither an OS or certificate to be fixed?

Fabiof unfortunately, I think nobody owns a Casio Classpad on Omnimaga forums. You may have to ask there: http://www.casiocalc.org/?s=b12d6496f065f01693f24f3c93cf63f5&showforum=6

We can't help you, or at least I can't.  I have no idea how to write an addin for the classpad.
