Well... Lets start here.

"*The TI-84 Plus Keypad is not included or compatible with the TI-Nspire CAS handheld." -- haha!

"The TI-Nspire CAS handheld does not include the snap-in TI-84 Plus Keypad, which is compatible exclusively with the TI-Nspire handheld."(http://www.ti-nspire.com/tools/nspire/features/nspire_cas.html) -- HIPOCRITS!(sp?)

"TI Connect™ software. You can still transfer data back-and-forth between handheld and computer. Capture graphing calculator screen images and download StudyCards, operating system updates, software applications (Apps) and more. Simply link to the computer using the TI-84 Plus Keypad's I/O port." -- wait, so they basically put an 84 in this 'keypad' and they're using the Nspires display? Im scared.

This just looks stupid. I mean, WTF?! it's not compatable. It's compatable. :wacko:

Umm, hello? Was your brain not working when you wrote this?

The CAS software takes up the available memory that the 84+ emulation gives. It says that plain as day in there. They are releasing 2 calculators.

So why did you make this post?? And why is it in the calculator discussion, if you are just going to "rant" about it??

You have to start your brain before you engage your mouth/fingers. As Dan said, it clearly states different models, the TI-NSpire and the TI-NSpire CAS. The CAS version has a CAS but no 84+ support, while the non-CAS version trades the CAS for an 84+ keyboard and support.

yeah, what were to you thinking when you posted this? There are two versions of the hardware, one with CAS, one without.

Which I guess means that all current programs for the Z80 shall work on the non-cas version. Sweet move from TI.

This may mean they could rewrite the OS to support basic eventually, but as of now. No programming what so ever.

same here, but from what i seen this calc seems to be meant more for teachers atm

Yea but even when I was in public school the teachers would help you write programs for math class, I even taught a class once on programming calcs while I was in middle school.

(the teachers asked me to come in during my normal math class a few times and kind of lecture and step by step help the students build the math programs.)

YOU can make math functions but they can only output numbers they can't interface with either the home or graph screen. the functions are set up like on the 89/92/v200

Lame. Pure and simple. What was TI thinking? They sparked a whole programming community with their products in the past. What's up with this move?
