Your first programs
« on: April 11, 2011, 06:55:02 pm »
I just looked through my old TIcalc profile, and I noticed how many of my first programs I made for calculators -- among them is a really crappy 3D grapher, an almost complete z80 instruction documentation flashapp (the ONLY eBook for the 84+ series apparently), and my epic BASIC game I started making with less than a week of experience -- TIE. :)

The only ones worth really sharing here is the epic TIE game and the almost complete eBook.

What are the first programs you guys first made?  Share them here :D

Well, no counter, since I hate how those people on ticalc upload ten of those and similar things like "how quick can u press teh button???111?" but the snake thing sounds cool :)

First game ever: WWIII in 2006. The version on ticalc is actually my third or fourth rewrite of the thing because back then I had so much time and so little memory (on-calc) that I kept deleting and redoing that one program :P

First game that actually seems decently fun now (looking back): Escape in 2007. Type in what you want to do in the game. Also one of my first programs not to have Gotos all over the place :P

First game that I consider worthy of keeping on my ticalc profile when I get around to cleaning it up: Absolute Insanity of 2009. As some people know, key detection's pretty bad, but it's still my most complex BASIC program ever. Not necessarily my best in terms of coding skills, but best in terms of playability.

First game in Axe: Simul. Looking back, the code's absolutely horrendous, but it's the only program of mine to get a feature/award of any sort, so I guess it works.

First quadratic solver: AAQUAD in 2010. Yes, 2010. That was the first time I ever made a quadratic solver O.O

I don't often upload to ticalc.org, but my first upload was Obstacle Snake.  After that is a tilemap converter and WFRNG OS.

My first uploaded game was Drifter, which I still like, but my first *successful* game (in my own eyes) was Numb3rs.  They're both in my sig. ;)

My VERY first project for calc was an unfinished start to another game, when I didn't even understand how the commands even worked (I though Menu set a value).

My first completed project for calc would have to be my Bopit game. It's actually somewhat fun. But that was a little project.

I realize that all of my projects have been pioneering some new technique that I had never used before:
Bopit: First game
DIEFIEND: First game with save files
Reload: First BASIC link game
Morale: First Hybrid BASIC game
Axe Zombie: First Axe game
Eitrix: First multiplayer Axe game
The Slime: On Hold, preparing to add dynamic tiles

Axe Eitrix: DONE

Betafreak Games: Fun filled games for XBox and PC. Check it out at http://www.betafreak.com

Wrong board, moved to Calc discussions and news.

My first project ever was an on-calc database of enemies and character manager for a RPG-based comic book I was planning to write at the time. The comic book never took off, though. My 2nd project was Labyrinth of Illusions, which was a graphical dungeon RPG with text-only battles. Later it became Labyrinth of Illusions 2, which had the same dungeons but graphical battles. Later it got renamed to illusiat, after it added an intro sequence.

Illusiat 1 would be my first ever released calculator program:

Technically, the original version of Illusiat 2 is practically the same as Illusiat 1, even most of the intro, battle layout and most dungeon rooms. However it's more like a sequel to the first. There are 2 dungeons and one extra boss. Dungeon 2 is optional.

If it wasn't for the fact I'm kinda out of calc stuff nowadays, on September 22th 2011 there would be an Illusiat 10th anniversary remake coming out.

Sig wipe!

My first program was russian roulette :P
I actually didn't understand what I was doing, since I just started. Actually Jim, who was already busy with TI-basic did probably the most work. As far as I know I maybe only drew the picture(s).
I never uploaded it anywhere. Good thing too, cause it kinda sucked.

I wish I had someone to code with (as in a team), but someone standing next to me.

Actually, that was my first program, but I copied the source code from the internet, so I don't count it.
