Casio Calculators / Re: Upgrading a fx-9750GII to have nautural display
« on: September 09, 2014, 11:25:09 am »
If you guys want a copy of the OS 2.04 you should be fairly quick about it.
I'm gonna turn in my fx-9750GII for another graphing/MAT calculator with natural display later this week.

I think it's so saddening that the fx-9750GII doesn't have natural display, or that I can't seem to upgrade mine because of this new OS release, because I really prefer the fx-9750GII over the more advanced series of calculators. I really prefer both the aesthetics and the button-layout of the fx-9750GII over the more advanced ones. It's slim and not so bulky and has nice colors and button-layout. I've always had the FX-82ES Plus, which I've just loved, mostly because it's natural display and layout. I choose the fx-9750GII because of the similarities and the fact that I don't really need the more advanced functions. However I'm not going to live without the natural display so I guess that's just how it is.

What do you guys think? Which one do you recommend, or should I keep my fx-9750GII for a little bit longer while waiting for a fix?

Is the fx_mod_orig_os.zip containing the original OS v02.04.0701 that you guys wanted, maybe?

Very unlikely. You are the first person who I know of that reported a preinstalled OS 2.04 on an fx-9750GII. We didn't even know whether Casio had compiled such OSes.

But whyyy! Why me...! :/
Yep, you're right, those .zip's didn't contain the backup of fx-9750GII OS v2.04.

Contents were as following:

Code: (fx_mod_orig_os.zip) [Select]
fx-9860G slim 2.00.bin
fx-9860G(SD)1.05.bin
fx-9860G(SD)2.00.bin
fx-9860G(SD)2.01.bin
fx-9860GII(SD)2.01.bin

Code: (fx_mod_slim_by_cfxm.zip) [Select]
2_04_0200_slim.bin

If any of that is interesting, just throw me a PM.

Hi,

Please remove these links - they are not allowed in this forum.

The OS 2.04 cannot be easily backed up as Casio has disabled some functionality. But we are working on this.
Could you send me your email address via PM? Thanks.

Oh my appologies.
I'm sorry for breaking the regulations.

Yes, I PM'd you. To anyone else who wants any information or help from me, just PM me.

EDIT: I found some more dowloads in another comment from the same Spanish guy on Youtube, +Julio Molero.

Stop all upgrading activities.

We need to backup this OS first because it is new and we don't have a copy yet.
However, this is a bit more complicated and I will let you know when we have a clue how to do it.

If there is any way I can help, please tell me!
Maybe you guys could guide me in backing up my OS (v 02.04.0701) so that I can upload it too you guys.

Also if there is any need for these files:
2_04_0200_sh4.fls
2_04_0200_sh3.fls

They can be found in this dropbox link (can be found in comment section), posted by +Julio Molero, on this youtube clip (Search for: Casio fx-9750gii to fx-9860gii OS upgrade by DanoninoBG).

Unfortunately I can't read Spanish, especially not this comment due to myself being a noob on the topic. Maybe you guys can understand it better when in i'ts context.

I've scanned the files and they seem to be safe.

Edit (Eeems): Redacted links

Hello, sorry for kinda bumping this old thread.
I just bought an fx-9750gii and it only says "USB power graphics". However if I check the version number in the calculator it says I got version: 02.04.0701
I've been trying for a while now with upgrading the calculator so that I can get the natural display that I really cannot live without.
I've managed to find two files from some guy’s dropbox account with the names of:
2_04_0200_sh4.fls
2_04_0200_sh3.fls
Those files should be the right ones, right?

But still every time I use fxRemote.exe to update I get the following message on my calculator:
Code: [Select]
OS not identifiable!
Start bootcode
OS update
manually and try again.
I also get these logs (see picture) and fxRemote crashes.

However I think my problem could be rooted in the following step described on the blog linked before in this thread:

Quote from: blog.easoncxz.com/?p=538
This step is both tricky and necessary.
in order to let the tool acccess the flash memory of the calculator which stores the system, sort of a BIOS screen is to be entered. check that the RESET button is functioning before proceeding. turn off the calculator, and press the following key sequence. “+” means press and hold, “-” means release, “()” means at the same time, ”     ” means wait for half a second or so:

Code: [Select]
+RESET+F2+4+AC-RESET-(F2+4+AC)+×   -×+9   -9now the screen should have a contrast error, and show the words “OS error. Please update OS.”. this is the “BIOS” screen. with this screen showing, and with the calculator being connected to a computer with the usb driver properly installed, and with the tool run as administrator, the tool can read or write the calculator’s flash storage in which the system lies. sd

Is my problem merely that I’m just to unskillfull or/and dumb to be able to successfully enter that code? Do you guys have any tips for entering the code successfully?

Thanks in advance.
