Hi there, welcome to omni :)

Do you do any calculator programming by any chance?  A number of them (mostly the more modern ones) have lua available or built-in. ;)

I mean the first time a person uses omnom, it says something along the lines of "look there's an options menu."

Perhaps the first  time / few times / until "do not show again"  omnomirc loads for a person it can bring up a notification (similar to what happens when enabling extra channels), emphasizing the options somehow?

Relating to the scrolling, maybe it can only happen if the mouse has been over the chat for x seconds, otherwise it scrolls the page.
Idk how doable that is doable tho.
Or maybe the user would have to click the chat window first.

For the scrollbar in its current state, can the track be changed to the border color (matching the theme ofc)? Other than the text it's the only black thing, so it draws focus and looks kind of weird :P

Add another for scrollbar + mousewheel.
* Darl181 mumbles something about colors matching forum themes

It is kind of strange how apple can sue samsung over 'rounded edges on icons' yet still magically introduce blatant rip-offs of android features and be fine with it.
Apple seems to be fine with it, but maybe the legal system won't if Google or an Android OEM decides to make some noise? ;)
yeah, prolly not gonna happen

What I wonder is if Windows 8.1 for desktops really brings back the Windows 7 style start menu?
It doesn't open a proper menu afaict, it leads to the tiles screen :/

Kind of ot, but what's up with this flatness trend in graphic design lately? Here we are in the 21st century.. and we're making bright, loudly-colored interfaces that look like 3.1 themes without bevels or something. Edges and corners seem to mostly be aliased.
There's even gtk themes picking up on it :P

I'm seeing elements of both SBSettings and Zephyr.. :P  Not that I'm complaining, it's tweaks like those that make iblargs somewhat usable.
Now to watch apple try to patent the ideas <_<

Maybe "See Misc section for search parameters," and stick something under Informational Pages?

If we're going the drop-down route, personally I think the cookie-based method would be better. That way, lurkers & co. couldn't be stuck with something they didn't like and/or have to enter in the parameter every time.
Kind of a minor thing I guess, but you never know :P

Thinking about it I'm liking the idea of having text appear next to the box when focused.
Pretty simple. maybe

Relating to the options/about/logs/etc buttons, might it be possible to have a two-column layout for those? It's getting kind of tall imo :/

Throwing out some ideas w/ various degrees of thought put into them..

 - Maybe there can be two buttons, each specifying their own search engine?
 - Something kind of like Firefox's search bar, where you click an icon or something (old adv. search magnifying glass?) and a drop-down appears, letting the user switch between engines.
 - Default to one engine, have a profile option for preferred engine. This isn't really a fix for those not registered tho.
 - Aforementioned placeholder text
 - Text to left of field when focused
 - Alt/hover-text

Nothing brilliant, but yay for finally reaching what the grade schools expect of 14/15-year-olds :P
seems like they haven't figured out to not make the images easily manipulatable yet =P this one's legit tho

also fail, just noticed chrome has a skype plugin, is it that?
Use Firefox. :P

To be fair I think skype does it to fx as well.
..
Use fx anyways :P

And yeah, managed to miss the toggle button somehow. Only button I use from those three on a semi-regular basis is options..
It still loads the lines and expands to ludicrous heights tho :/

Suggestion that's prolly been brought up multiple times - cookie-based disabling.
I'm guessing it's known that omnomirc's completely broken on iThing browsers, and it's kind of a pain to get to the rather minuscule disabling button or remember to disable it on-real-computer every time. :P
Maybe when the cookies are first made it can default to disabled?

I like this idea. For the userlist, I've been using this (disregard the chicken :P) for a while, would that work out? (also the slideout on every page load could prolly be taken out)
The pane split isn't really necessary, but the list part brightens up a bit when hovered. Woo pointless things.
