News / Re: New banner and new search function

those look nice, but the reason the new icon is red and yellow right now is to make it stand out easily. see the attached image; people need to be able to scan across a page and easily distinguish new posts from non-new
Yeah that makes sense. Just thinking there might be a way to have them not clash as loudly, tho I guess that's kind of their purpose so idk :P
Edit: maybe green or pink from the background?

Yay for working search :D

When it loaded an omni page it kind of made sense to have it in the same tab, but now that it's loading a separate site it should be a new tab imo. Maybe there could be a poll.

As for the forum theme, a random idea I had was maybe the could be recolored to match the theme a bit better, similar to the quote, modify etc buttons on posts.
(attached a couple quick edits in the style of the other buttons, guessing it could be done better tho)

I don't do games much, but personally gnome classic/"fallback" with metacity for a wm seems pretty lightweight, esp. after you end synapse, nemo/nautilus (strongly suggest nemo btw ;)), etc processes. If you really want to, you can set up a script or a couple of launchers to switch between compiz and metacity (guessing compiz-fusion icon is defunct by now, but there's prolly something).

Also it can look/be pretty slick if done right. :P

Just as a side note java from oracle seems to run a bit faster than openjdk. Sounds like you don't have that tho, so yeah.

Speaking of posting desktops, did some polishing* and now woo 64-bit os. Not that it's visible but yay.
*and manually edited a certain set of jupiter icons b/c ubuntu's default icons have this sickly yellow tinge to them
Spoiler For desktop-sized img:

I can actually use this wp and have it fit now :D before it clashed with the curved lucido awn dock
Pseudo-ocd represent =P

Taking a concentrated-schedule stats class over the summer, such endless fun :D

In all seriousness the stress of that +family stuff is kind of enough to shut out hobbies etc.. Tho there isn't class on fridays so I'm actually able to catch up w/ other aspects of life around then.

I think there's ~3-4 weeks left, after that I should be back in business ;)

sed -i 's/checked out/seen/g' *.log
:P

Haven't messed with this for a couple years, might try it again to see how far it's come.

I like it without the pattern, it's kind of busy with the calcs alone. Maybe to help readability the shine could be eased back a bit?
Also not sure if that bitmap-looking font should be antialiased :P

@Sorunome that blank line at the top keeps making me think there's a css/html error or something lol

That. Pretty self-explanatory if you ask me :P
source wiki thing, a bit old but still fits

Backup's still recommended, but personally I haven't had any horror stories over about a dozen re-installations so ymmv.

Maybe show them a live-boot and how things work? I imagine one wouldn't stick with the default for long but it can make for a good demonstration :P
Or if it's ubuntu, maybe http://www.ubuntu.com/tour/en .

Normally I use awn, but I've spent some time on my fallback session. :P
Gnome classic ftw?
Spoiler For size=large:
Bottom panel autohides, launchers do in order: switch wm to compiz, switch wm to metacity (faster whee), restart panel
I'd like to modify the workspace switcher a bit, but it's proving pretty difficult and I guess it isn't terrible as it is? Contrast is really intense when there's windows open tho.

Hi :)  I see there's already plenty of peanuts and other...stuff?...so I'm going to just skip over that :P

As said before Ti-Connect is kind of famous around here for being an inconsistent piece of garbage, and many prefer to use TiLP (idk what the official link is (or how it performs on osx) but it's on ticalc here).

Good luck getting back into coding ;)

OmnomIRC Development / Re: OmnomIRC changelog and suggestions
« on: June 24, 2013, 05:51:38 pm »
And OmnomIRC3 will use WebSockets wich will make it less resource intensive but requires the browser to support the newest HTML5 standarts, we might add a fallback that is similar to the current chat-system for if you don't have a new browser.
Just add an auto blackout for IE users and your problem is solved. :P
* Streetwalker runs
If you want to be particularity evil, you could iframe to abetterbrowser.org or similar. :P

Just tried out the omnomirc3 thing again..color scheme and lack of padding notwithstanding it's coming along well :)

For some reason when I first saw the thread title, what came to mind was some sort of atari jaguar-like controller hooked up to a 12" crt screen..
Or this. Imagine rocking a case like that in math class :P

Looks pretty cool anyways.
