Other Calc-Related Projects and Ideas / GONE: Lost from the light
« on: October 26, 2010, 02:01:16 am »
So im working on a text based adventure with Mimas. I dont know what to call it, maybe you guys could help me come up with something. Its going to be pretty dark and very poetic. Its probably not going to make compkete sense to those who dont read deeply into things that well.
Ive already got a bunch of text routines done (like wrapping it on the graphscreen) next ill work on menus, which could be hard. Ill try my best to make it jump table based.
Im trying to make it like a poem :D
Ill try to get a screenshot of what ive got done in tomorrow.
Let me know what you think and if you have any possible names i could use :p
Im thinking "GONE: Lost from the light" so far.

Computer Usage and Setup Help / Pentium II, Linux...hmmm...
« on: October 20, 2010, 09:24:52 pm »
Ok, so I'm getting my families old Pentium II machine to play around with :D I'm thinking about just making it a slave machine or something, probably load some lightweight linux system on it, something simple and command line based, with SSH support. I'd have to access it with a cable because we want to upgrade our web password to WPA2 instead of WEP, and it's what is holding us back. So, which version of linux would you guys recommend for a Pentium II?

TI Z80 / Hegemony

Ok, so I was thinking, anybody want to make a faster, and maybe more feature filled version of this game? It's an old favourite of mine, but it's not coded in the best way...
I had been working on a game inspired by it a while ago that I called Fleet. It would show where the fleets are, and it would allow you to create your maps and it would calculate the distance between the planets. It was much faster, but it did not feature names for planets due to the fact that you could have anywhere from 3 to 10+ planets (can't remember exactly). The graphics where a bit better, and it was still menu driven, but that doesn't really matter :P
Anybody want to take this up? Maybe make an Axe version or something?

My ~1 month long absence is over! I'm ready to get right back into the community where I left off and work with everybody :). If you have been reading my twitter feed then you know that I am working on jBOS2 which is a huge overhaul on jBOS that uses not only firefox specific XPCOM but now includes jQuery and the jDesktop plugin to jQuery to make it look nice and snazzy. Here are some screenshots of how it looks:

Miscellaneous / Eeems leaves for a month
« on: September 06, 2010, 11:04:52 pm »
After recent events which I do not want to discuss I am taking a month long break from all forums I am a part of as well as IRC. If you need to contact me I will still use my email and you can still read updates on my projects via my twitter account (Eeems_). I will still log into multiple other instant chats, but I will not be back at the forums, unless someone PM's me with something very important. During my hiatus from the forums I will still be working on projects, just not posting the updates anywhere other then twitter. Don't worry though I will be coming back after the month is up, maybe a bit sooner.

So I'm making a program with DCS called AxeAid, it is an ide for AXE. so far all it is is a slightly modified DocDE7.
what is does so far is open/save/edit files ( filetype 0,1,8 ). I have added a placeholder icon for building the file into an axe source, and a splash screen :)
Here is a screenshot:

Next up on my todo list, change the icons. :D

News / SirCmpwn Joins The Ranks of the Coders Of Tomorrow
« on: June 22, 2010, 12:32:07 am »
SirCmpwn has been a member of the community for a long time now, fought his battles to stay connected to Omnimaga and has many notable projects underway. Most notable of which is a third party OS named KnightOS which aims at bringing a real OS to the calculator with multitasking, real file-systems and more. So without further ado, we welcome SirCmpwn to the ranks of the CoT! He more than qualifies. Sub-forums for his projects will be created tomorrow.
Congrats SirCmpwn.

Web Programming and Design / jBasic OS
« on: June 12, 2010, 02:40:25 am »
jBasic OS is a branch off of mine from the jBasic project (link) but its a complete re-write, and a completely different project entirely, but it was inspires by jBasic.
jBasic OS is going to be a web OS with tasks, windows, custom cursors and more. Its kind of like EyeOS, but different. jBasicOS will have a desktop client (using xulrunner) and can be run off of a web server if anybody is so inclined to set one up :p
The desktop client will have little or no xul interface, it will most likely be just a window open to an html document.
Making applications for it will be easy i hope, I will have commands for creating windows, interfacing with them, moving them. I will also have commands for interfacing with the mouse. Tasks can be cancelled by a task manager, i will have a system speed variable (framerate) to let you know how much of a slowdown you are undergoing due to open applications. Applications will be required to name their functions starting with the application name, then an underscore so they can interface with the system without messing things up.
Currently I ony have the ideas in my head, and the basic headers on my files, so wish me luck, I'll post updates as I go.
If anybody wants to help me with the project, please let me know, hopefully we can work together on it :)
