Our cafeteria was nothing but vending machines. The only thing they would serve in the cafeteria was fries.

Hiryu made it for Punisher X-Treme when we were still working on that project. There's actually a ton of pictures like those since about 1/4 of the storyline graphics were done before we canned the project. i'm pretty sure this pic was going to be used for the First dialog box (New Game, Load game, ETC) But I don't remember

The Slayers Engine Boxctrl test picture on my site's projects page actually has the beginning storyline for PunXtreme, Although it flies by since the test shows how fast the engine handles dialog.

which one, the "destroy these" one or the building one? I don't think I have the Destroy These one anymore.

(I'm not saying their name, for fear that it summons them if you say their name three times. Like Beetlegeuse)

Well that sucks when someone says they made it and claims the maker stole it :(sad.gif. Hopefully that never happens for me. >.>

I saw this happens lot of time, that sucks, it is even worse when ticalc believe the thief and not you

One time I had someone claim I pirated Punisher IV to make NPO Vs Hays. I thought it was funny since apparently I pirated my own game engine.

About the only thing they ever wrote is Doorways. Everything else they copied in one form or another.

As Much as stealing Doorways code and calling it something else would be fun, it's stooping down to their level and thats something I don't encourage. And this is coming from someone who basicially Plagerized himself in order to take a swipe at them. Now that I think about it, I do have hit #1000 on their site. They still owe me the doorways code :)smile.gif

News / A threat to double-posting?
« on: August 06, 2005, 04:30:00 pm »
I just recently got some webspace and are now running an ikonboard on it. That should be light years ahead of the older board I had. Right now it's running on stock code and doesn't match the style of my site. I'm going to have to get a skin for it eventually but the basic setup is working for now.

What really gets be about boradhost is that I mailed them about the spamming today and they said that their finally getting a login system that makes sense. Supposedly the new system is going to have a register function. I guess it took them a few years to realize that having logins with no way to register users was a bad thing.

Calc.org used to offer cgi and the like, but apparently it got shut off or I need to get it turned on but since everybody's gone over there thats not going to happen. I really wish that calc.org would rise from the dead but I just don't see that happening right now.

The Picture is what the original nPo vs Hays ending pic was going to be. The reason I did away with it becasue the 86 couldn't handle the grayscale part of it well and in 2 colors it looked too grainy, so I opted to draw the building instead. Since that building was the original design I was looking for, the Drawn picture has a similar perspective to the real pic.

Most likely if nPo vs. Hays 2 ever got made, since it would have been on the 89 this would probably have been the image of the building I would have used but bigger to fit the 89 screen.

I read it Friday. finally got a chance to post.

Generally speaking, I found it interesting is some places. I'm amazed they Got "Columbined" by their school. When I hear things like that It makes me glad I graduated in 96. Like I've said before, if Columbine happened while we were in school, I probably wouldn't be posting this here right now. Either would Hiryu. The KCHS punisher would have put us away for a while. The game alone was probably a good two years shrink duty let alone the comic. In fact, nothing from the KCHS would pass the "Mike Wallace" test.

I also find it funny they pontificate ti-files so much. Ill give you one guess who flooded their guestbook and got them "Geonuked" 3 times. Here's a hint, it wasn't me, ticalc.org or calc.org. To this day I'm amazed Rabeler didn't go to ti-files and join Maddox, Nagel and Highsmith. he would have been right at home at A-Hole central.

Speaking of Rabeler, On the Meyer archive trolling, I'm not going to say that the ticalc.org archive quality went up when Rabeler was kicked from ticalc.org. Rabeler was an A-Hole but he did at least run a tight archive. I don't think ticalc.org will ever have an archive staffer to remotely equal Rabeler, but I don't blame them for canning him. He loved stirring the outhouse too much. Regardless, they didn't need to start testing the waters to see if Meyer was any good. My guess is Rabeler put them up to it because that's what he enjoyed doing, stirring the outhouse.

They said I didn't know that they were the nPo. Again, on the hays site they would have white text on their site that said "The nPo and the Hays Games co. are the same thing". I believed that it was a lie at the time, but It's a lot of the reasons I never directly associated with the nPo just in case. I always looked at the nPo in such a way that even if they did create it, they basically created a monster they were losing control of fast. A ton of people were claiming to be nPo members at the time, and I can bet that most of them wanted Hays dead and weren't insiders.

I think they got their dates messed up. Either that or I never noticed NBA hangtime Pre GOD. If they targeted NBAJam that early, nPo vs Hays would have been out a lot sooner, if not something worse. Hiryu was practically waiting for them to pirate one of his games. I don't know what he would have done, but imagine something from the mind that made the KCHS Punisher after you pissed him off. (For the Uninitiated, in the comic, Some of the methods used by the KCHS Punisher in his constant clone extermination were Chainsaws, flame throwers, his arm blade, the "Bible Bonfire", Explosive devices on a wheelchair after gluing the wheelchair to the floor, A swift kick to the head (kicked the Dean Clone's head through the Basketball hoop in the gym). and the always satisfying blade menace to the chest. The Game was a tabby cat vs. the hungry pack of Leopards that was the comic.)

Overall, Not too much surprising stuff, but interesting stuff nonetheless.

New sig image. It might remind you of something...

Personally, I'm against not having open source out there. Just for the Record, I'm not a Linux fan, but I like how open source software (GNU in Particular) helps a programming community learn from it's own mistakes and make an overall program better. Another reason is that most of my programs could be typed in manually on a calculator. I never released text files of my programs simply because it's a pain to debug a program typed in, and some of the characters don't translate well to a txt file, but I did allow ti-graph link to view it (unfortunately Ti for some reason doesn't think that this is necessary to have in ti-connect. Here's a petition I'd sign in a heartbeat)

I don't think that edit locking code is the answer, since many of the techniques can be hacked and it doesn't help anyone learning to code, but a community that highly discourages code ripoff is the next best thing, and Hays is a shining example of what should happen when entire programs are blatantly ripped off and pawned off as original programs. I mean what would happen if you blatantly ripped off Linux and called it Winux and give no credit to Linus Torvalds? Slashdot would be lighting the torches, sharpening the pitchforks and tying the nooses is what would happen.

I'm expecting their answer to be "it's a joke" Frankly there was a lot of joke Ti sites out there (Psychocorp comes to mind almost immediately). The difference though was that the group that did it (sicode I believe) didn't blatantly rip off entire code from other programs, pontificate it as the second coming while bashing the original author in the process, then Publish it on major Ti sites as their own original work. I'm not saying that hays was the only one that ripped off games, (look at the racing clones alone for the 83) but they were by far the most vocal, blatant and disrespectable of the rest out there.

So to summarize:
Open Source = Good Thing
Using Source for your game while giving Credit to original coder = Good thing
Using Source for your game with no credit to the original coder = Bad thing
Using Source for your game while bashing the original coder = Worse thing / Hays
