Humour and Jokes / Re: 9001 signs you're addicted to calcs and Omni

6243: You write "THE GAME" on tons of boards in your school (true story)

That's no proof you're addicted to Omni. I did this in school when I didn't even know this website existed.

I also rewired cables in the classroom switch (making sure to switch all of the labels as well), changed the values of data pointers from a classmate's C program (He left his work opened on of the computers at night, so I jumped on the occasion), Hid all of the files from a freshman's personal drive on the school server in a hidden folder with only a cryptic text file left, filled a lost 1TB external hard disk drive with Yiff before giving it back and wired a projector's VGA cable to a computer running Meatspin (NSFW: meatspin.com for those who don't know what that is).

But that's still no proof that you're addicted to Omni, just proof that you have way too much time to waste.

I have been to most of those places but they usually try to sell it for a much higher price than it's worth. I usually look online because that's where I can get the best deals (even if sometimes I have to pass on one because of shipping price).

And if I can't get a game at a reasonable price, I usually don't buy the game, relying on emulation instead, at least until I find a deal that suits me. I'm not a huge fan of retro gaming, I just the nostalgic feel of playing a game like Sonic 2 or Ecco on actual hardware. Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat make great party games, because usually no one in the room is too good with those games to have a definitive advantage over the others.

I also forgot to say that one of my friends got a copy of Fatal Fury from one of his friends, who basically gave it away to him. I don't think he knows how much money he could have made selling it to a retro game store or on EBay.

That bug is the bane of all programmers. It's been a while since I coded anything in C or C++, but that annoying bug did get me everytime.

It has compiled just fine now. Thanks for the quick response.

EDIT: I modified my BrainPuff page to include a link to your github project page, since I noticed you were asking for it but I did not link back to you yet.

I cloned your repository, typed make, got an error.
I am running a 64-bit Lubuntu 13.10 Virtual Machine on a 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate host.

I can give you more info if you need to, but this does not even seem to be related to the hardware configuration I have.

Code: [Select]
tommy@Rainbow-VM:~/Documents/tibasic$ make
bison -d tibasic.y
flex tibasic.l
tibasic.l:16: unrecognized rule
tibasic.l:16: unrecognized rule
tibasic.l:16: unrecognized rule
make: *** [lex.yy.c] Error 1

Wha, that looks pretty interesting!
Are you planning on also adding some way to communicate with X?

Communicating with X between multiple instances of a program will require the use of Unix sockets. I could dig in JuJu's code and try to add this functionality, as it will be required to emulate communication between 2 TI calculators. Of course it would require some kind of mechanism to emulation connection and disconnection between the two endpoints, which has to be thought out a bit.

So yes, it is possible but not that simple to implement.

I once got Street Fighter 2 Special Champions Edition + Mortal Kombat 2 for the Genesis online at roughly 5$ (boxes, manuals and all). My best investment to date.

I also got Ecco The Dolphin around that time, but I paid a little bit more for it. I'm still looking for Ecco 2 if anyone knows where I can get it at a decent price.

When I was at ConkerZone with my friend SquirrelGrunt, we uploaded a video called "Rare's big announcement at E3 2009" or something like that, and it was Rick Astley mixed with parts of the trailer for Kinect Sports. Nor the title, nor the thumbnail, nor the description gave away that it was a rickroll.

I see people doing things like that in the future.

Can you try to calculate what is the lag between audio and video? It might simply be an imprecision problem that causes audio to slowly get out of sync with the video.

You could always try to resync the audio with the video every second or half second, but I think this might cause audio glitches that will be really bothering to some.

Good luck, keep up the good work. (Because of you I really got hooked on that Bad Apple song :P)

It is indeed really good. You could do a video to show how well this runs on a real calculator and have it uploaded to Youtube / Dailymotion / whatever video site you want to use. The gif is nice, but nothing shows the completion of the project like showing it running on actual hardware.

Do not worry, I know what to look for when shopping online for stuff. I always check price + shipping to make sure I don't pay 50$+ shipping on a 20$ item.

On this, I think we should either get back on topic, or let it sink if there is nothing else to add on it.

Yeah, that sucked. I remember wiring a little circuit to interface between the calculator IO port and a parallel port on an old computer to transfer stuff on my calculator. I don't think any of my PCs have a parallel port anymore. TI calculators are overpriced anyway, I could probably make a calculator that emulates a TI-83 (I mean an OS running the TI-OS) and sell it under 30 bucks.

I do not have any calculator at the moment, but I'll make sure to pick up one with a USB port soon, maybe the TI84+C SE, so that I get into calc programming with you guys when I'm bored. I won't buy it in store thought, probably order it online from Ebay or Amazon or someplace like that.

Would love to try this one out, but I have never used Axe before. Could someone point me to a good starting place?

  • DoorsCS is (was) too big for French people with a regular 83+ (160KB of Flash, with 16KB taken by French language and 16KB taken by the Periodic table, you can guess that DoorsCS is (was) hard to fit in with some programs)
  • A lot of people read readmes where it's written "Ion compatible shell", then download Ion
  • A lot of people read readmes where it's written "Ion compatible shell like MirageOS", then download MirageOS
  • A lot of people don't read readmes where it's written "needs DoorsCS for the GUI" and will just think "dat game sux" and review it bad so coders try to avoid dependancies
  • And that last argument is only my opinion but I prefer zStart to DoorsCS so I use it instead, and that prevents me from using DoorsCS's GUI.
I had a Ti-83+ (SE I think) bought in Quebec back in the day and I installed Doors and a couple of programs with no problem on it, so that argument of *you had no space left on a French calculator* seems incorrect to me.

TI Z80 / Re: [Axe] Worms - name subject to changes
« on: December 27, 2013, 12:00:42 am »
I have no idea how to quickly differentiate between allies enemies and which worm is currently selected. Maybe assign a 4x4 or 8x8 symbol over each worm to know which team it belongs to. And if this symbol can switch color if it overlaps an obstacle like a rock that would be ideal.
