How to: Send a private message


You may want to tell another member something private, or just carry on a conversation with them. One way to do this is to send them a private message, also known as a PM.


To send a PM, hover over "My Messages" on the Omnimaga header and click on "Send a message."



You'll see a screen that looks very similar to the post editor:



Start typing the username of the member you want to message. A drop-down menu will appear with usernames that match the letters that you typed:



You can then use the post editor-like interface to type out the message you want to send. Don't forget to add a subject! Click "Send message" at the bottom of the page to send the message.


To check your inbox and see what messages you have recieved, hover over "My Messages" on the Omnimaga header and click on "Read your messages".



The page that comes up will show all of the messages that you have recieved in a list.



Click on the subject of the message to read it. The message will be shown like this:



If you want to reply to the message, click "Reply" at the top right corner of the message you recieved.


That's it! Sending and recieving PMs is an easy way to communicate with other members.

Yeah I was gonna point out that the Omnimaga forum install already has help by default. But it definitively misses stuff that got added via mods and perhaps there are unclear things, so I guess it won't hurt to give more info or make things more clear.

How to: Make a new post


Now that your profile looks nice, it's time to be a part of the community and post on the forums.


The first thing you need to do is go to the forums! Click on "Forum" on the Omnimaga header.



This page is a list of all of the forums and sub-forums (forum inside of a forum) on Omnimaga. There are ones for calculators, for computers, random discussion, and more! Let's take a look at them.



Omnimaga: This forum is for discussing the site itself.



Calculator Community: The biggest forum. It is divided up into different brands here. If you are working on or have finished a project for a calculator, post it here!



General Discussion: The most diverse forum. It is divided up into different interests. The first section is all about computers and technology. If you wrote a program for a computer, built an electronic device, or just want to discuss technology, post here. Music Talk and Showcase and Art sections are for posts about making music and art of any kind. Introduce Yourself is a place where new members can tell the community about themselves. Other Discussions is for off-topic/general talk.


Click on a board to look at the topics (also known as threads) inside of it. A list of topics looks like this:



Click on a topic to read the posts in it. If you want to post in a topic, you can use the Quick Reply box at the bottom of the page. Type your reply, then click Post to post it.



To make your own topic, go back to the list of topics in the forum you are looking at. At the bottom or top of the page, you should see a row of buttons that look like this:



Click "New Topic" and you will be taken to the post editor:



This post editor's formatting buttons (bold, underline, etc.) work kind of like Microsoft Word's do. You can also click on the emoticons to insert them into your post. (Just don't overuse them! ;) )


When you are finished, click Post at the bottom of the post editor. That's it!

How to: Edit your profile


The first thing you'll see when you log in is the Omnimaga header:



To see your profile on Omnimaga, hover over "Profile" on the header and click on "Summary". This will show you your public profile.





The "Summary" page looks like this for me:





We're not here to just look at your profile, though. We're here to edit it. Hover over "Profile" again, and click on "Forum Profile". This page will let you edit your public profile seen on the forums. Here's what the "Forum Profile" page looks like for me:





I can't show the whole page in one picture, so I'll just explain what all of the fields are for in multiple screenshots. The screenshots are put into quotes for readability.

Personalized Picture: Also known as your avatar. This picture shows up beside all of your posts. Select "No avatar" to not have an avatar, "Specify avatar by URL" to use a picture on the internet as your avatar, and "Upload an avatar" to use a picture on your computer as your avatar.

Personal Text: This is text that you can customize that also shows up beside all of your posts and in your profile. It is optional.

Birthdate, Location, Gender: These fields are optional. You can provide your birthdate (other people will be able to see your age on your profile), your location (doesn't have to be detailed, visible on your profile), and your gender (also visible on your profile).

ICQ, AIM, MSN, YIM Usernames: These fields are optional. You can show your username for various IM services on your profile.

That's it! Be sure to click the "Change profile" button on the bottom of the page to save your changes.

Yes, but it's the only thing keeping us not bored to death in study hall. :P

Some updates and pictures and other fun stuff
I added a blinking effect whenever the tetrimino is changed, and I also added an LED for showing if the timer is activated or not.

This is probably the most useless device I have made. It displays random tetriminoes on a 4x2 LED matrix. It has two modes: one where it automatically displays a new tetrimino every few seconds, and one where it requires a button press to display a new tetrimino. It has a PIC18F26K20 for its processor.

EDIT: Some updates and pictures and other fun stuff
I added a blinking effect whenever the tetrimino is changed, and I also added an LED for showing if the timer is activated or not.
