Computer Projects and Ideas / Controlling a robot arm with a Wiimote« on: November 15, 2011, 12:47:50 am »
That was one of my school projects: controlling this arm, as shown in this video, with a Wiimote. It's kinda hard to control this 20 years old thing with a Wiimote though...

Other / What is your keyboard layout?« on: November 11, 2011, 03:22:05 pm »
This is my favorite layout, as you can type pretty much every accent with the accent dead keys.
Canadian French I got a new keyboard with this layout, I might switch to the one above. I kinda hate this one, as I'm used to the French Canadian one. Canadian Multilingual Standard I also have a keyboard with this layout, I usually type in Canadian French on it. US layout 172

Miscellaneous / Juju's Riddles« on: October 31, 2011, 01:33:10 pm »
Happy Halloween! What a nice day to post some riddles.
Here's the first one, the first who figures it out wins! P+4zJ And no, it's not some sort of brainteaser. You have to decrypt it, as in converting stuff back and forth. And I think I said too much. Oh, and you must post how you solved it. Good luck ^_^ 176
Math and Science / Inverse kinematics« on: October 25, 2011, 11:53:56 pm »
Basically, I have a robotic arm (shown below), unfortunately the one I got is broken and I can't input XYZ coordinates directly so I have to convert them to angles for each of the joints.
![]() I know you need to use inverse kinematics for that (it gave headaches to my teacher), so I'm wondering if someone here knows about them. If so, please help me, thanks. 177

Other Calculators / Alternative to the AM radio trick« on: October 22, 2011, 10:06:45 pm »
Here's a little trick I discovered: sit your calculator on the pickups of an electric guitar and you should hear the sound of your calc on the amplifier. It's easy. You might have to correctly align the processor and/or the link port area with the pickups, set the selector correctly on the guitar and set the volume rather high.
In fact, it's the same principle with an AM radio (minus the radio interferences), it works with electromagnetism. 179
Web Programming and Design / My website project« on: October 21, 2011, 10:05:52 pm »
I'm redesigning my personal website at http://julosoft.net/, you can see a (non-functional, but still kinda functional) sneak peek here.
The frontend (nearly complete) is entierely made with jQuery, while the login and commands (not implemented yet) are loaded with AJAX. Since it's a school project, they'll be written in JSP. Please leave some feedback ![]() 180
Other / Lego Mindstorms NXT competition« on: October 14, 2011, 02:52:28 pm »
So I signed up to this French NXT competition between French IUTs (and a Québécois CEGEP) that consists to build a robot under 4 hours with the problem only known at the start. Sounds awesome? Yes it is.
And I heard there's loads of programming languages for the NXT, like ROBOTC (we have a licence) and C#. A teacher just lent me his NXT set until next Thursday (which is the competition day). Now I guess I need ideas to do something with this? Edit: Best idea will be made and I'll probably send pics. |
