Site Feedback and Questions / Forum search broken?
« on: March 16, 2013, 11:40:43 am »
Today I tried to search the forum, but I got an error "You are not allowed to search for posts in this forum. "
Is it just intentionally disabled or did it break?

Is the document totally empty or is it the Lua script app which is blank ?
Sorry, I looked again today and saw that it's really empty. I have a TouchPad Nspire, so Levak is probably right that there's too little RAM. That means it should only be a problem if I save the document while I'm for example in the document browser, because the script isn't blank before I save it, only when I open it again later.
Are you trying to open a Lua script that has a consequent size (like hundreds of KB) ?
The tns is only 23KB, but its Lua code Chockosta posted is 250KB.
Is there any way to reduce the RAM usage of the OS or something?

3.1 CAS touchpad. When I close the document (automatically when I open another document) and reopen it later, it doesn't work anymore. By that I mean the document gets opened, but the Lua page is just blank.

Is there a workaround or a simple fix for the bug that the document is sometimes just blank when I open it and will never work again, so I have to re-send it to the calc? Or am I the only one with that problem...

Apart from that, a really nice game. Cubefield and Gravity Guy are definitely the games I like the most on my nspire so far.

I already linked to that above ;)

The following would be a valid combination of options if your OS is a .tno:
nspire_emu /1=boot1.img /M /PB=boot2.img /PO=310.tno

Replace the names after the equal signs with your own ones, obviously.

You don't have to convert anything if you got the files with polydumper. Just rename the file extension from .img to .raw

It's probably: users\shagfried\documents\nspire_emu_070 (1)\nspire_emu.exe

Why can't you open nspire_emu using the cmd prompt?

Miscellaneous / Re: High level languages are vexing

Also I think some of the reasons that those things aren't in the languages is, they are great on a low level basis, but how much do you actually need them in a high level language?
Exactly. I don't fully understand how you'd want high level languages improved. Full low-level access? Or implementations of everything you could do with those low-level things in the standard library? You'd still find missing things. Some languages are by concept just not well suited for solving some problems, and there's often a reason why.

You have to start it from the command line.
There's a tutorial on how to use nspire_emu here.

You're pressing the correct [doc] button.

You need to start holding the 3 keys down before pressing the Reset button and must not release them until the maintenance menu appears.
Did you do it exactly like that?
If you're doing it correctly you should see the booting progress bar on the screen while you are holding down the 3 keys.

Edit: You can find out the current OS version by choosing "5 Settings" from the start screen and in the menu that comes up "4: Status".

Level 12 (or was it 13?) was so hard O.O

General Calculator Help / Re: How to run programs on Ti-nspire?
« on: February 11, 2013, 02:52:04 pm »
You have to change the ".tnc" extension to ".tns" and this is only possible if you can see the ".tnc". If you can't see it, you have to change the settings of your computer first (uncheck "Hide known file extensions" in the options if you're on Windows).
Right now you probably have a file named "phoenix.tns.tnc" but only see the first part of the name.

I pronounce it Ohm-nee-mah-gah, but that's just because I normally speak German. Apparently that's even the correct way O.O

What about Super Crate Box?

I saw the topic about the 84 version, and thought that that game should be possible, because there's no need for exact pixel-movement.
I also updated the first post with the ideas :) but that's not much yet
I don't know super crate box, but the screenshots of the 84 version look nice. It would be a cool idea because we don't have many Nspire games which aren't puzzlers ;)
