GOCH (Guitar on calc Hero)
« on: May 30, 2010, 10:23:26 am »
GOCH is a guitar-hero like programmed with Axe Parser.

I just made a gif because it's still buggy but you can see how it will look like.
I'm french so please  correct me if I'm wrong...

Looks promising. But I believe the graphics could be enhanced somehow.

The name of the program is cool, but playing a bit around with words could give other cool names for calculator Guitar Hero's clones, I think.

I will try to keep updated of this game.

wow, imo it looks really nice...I wish I had thought of that x.x  Oh well I'll think of something.

Are you planning on adding greyscale for a background?  Good luck on this, I'll try to keep updated as well.  Oh and make sure it can support other levels so other people can make songs and such for it.  One more thing, are you planning on having real sound...one other thing (sorry) Will this be for 15mhz calcs only or both?

I have a ti 83+ so this is for 6Mhz calculators.

And I had already planned to make an editor to allow anyone to create his own songs and share them with other peoples.

I also wish I could add some sound but Axe sound are too "numerics".

And for the greyscale background I'll think about it too.

Wow looks nice so far! You are the first person to make a Guitar Hero clone where the interface is 3D perspective instead of just 2D scrolling (even the ASM clone someone was working on last year was 2D)

Suggestion, though: It can get pretty annoying to hold the calc at 90° and play this way, because the screen is on one side. Do you think in future versions you could switch the interface so we can play by holding our calc normally and have the keys be Y=, WINDOW, ZOOM, TRACE and GRAPH?

I like the design on this clone. It's really cool to actually have some sort of perspective, as I don't think any of the other Guitar hero clones have done that.

Looks great, I was wondering kinda the same thing on the controls...what they are currently and if you had plans to switch them to the more traditional vertical position. Great work though, the speed looks good. Keep it up!

I thought that if you hold the calc like it and play with the [clear] [/] [-] [enter] keys it would be more convenient to play that [y=] ...

Wow, that looks really nice!  Excellent job!  In my opinion, if you go with Clear to Enter, I'd mirror the display so the notes go towards the right. :)

It looks great from this perspective! ;D

I guess it depends of people preferences, maybe. It's up to you to decide, though. I just always found it more convenient to play with Y= keys, especially that the keys would be located almost right below the scrolling notes, but maybe some people will prefer playing it the way you set it up

Hmm... I'll decide it for the next version because I'll need some space on the screen so I'll see what is the best (but I keep thinking playing with the functions wouldn't be very convenient because they're too close (I'll try it when I go back on my calc to see if it's possible))

If you're planning to have the score and stuff on the side, then I think it might be best to keep the interface how it is, then.

(on a side note, like I say to most new Axe (and xLIB) programmers, make sure to back up your progress often in case you do a mistake and get an accidental RAM Clear.)
