Site Feedback and Questions / Edit an article?
« on: August 03, 2017, 03:31:44 pm »
The articles section of Omnimaga contains an article that was copied from a topic that I wrote: https://www.omnimaga.org/articles/?sa=view;article=84 (copied from https://www.omnimaga.org/casio-prizm/prizm-icon-design-guidelines/)

However, the article is rather out of date. It doesn't include important changes to the wording that were made in 2015, and the embedded Photobucket images that I was using aren't working anymore. How can I edit the article to bring it up to date with the topic? (I just get the message "You can not edit articles." when I press the edit button.) Or alternatively, can someone edit it for me?

OmnomIRC Development / /me has an extra space
« on: June 18, 2011, 05:06:05 am »
Viewed from an IRC client, a /me line sent by OmnomIRC looks like this:

Code: [Select]
(10:18:02) OmnomIRC: (O)* Keoni29  slaps fishbot in the face with a large fishbone(plus colors)

It should probably be like this:

Code: [Select]
(10:18:02) OmnomIRC: (O)* Keoni29 slaps fishbot in the face with a large fishbone
Is the space between the * and the username also a mistake, or is it intentional?

Miscellaneous / Backloggery
« on: June 11, 2011, 03:36:47 pm »
Does anyone here use the Backloggery website? Its purpose is to track what games you have and which ones you still have to beat. I think it's pretty nice, but they only have one calc category, so I have to put all of my 84+ and Prizm games in the same place D:

I've also added the list of games that I'm currently playing to my signature.

Casio Calculators / Image converter by Casio?
« on: May 25, 2011, 12:44:03 pm »
When looking at some videos at the Casio Prizm YouTube channel (yes, there is one!), I noticed this one. It's a presentation that shows what the Prizm is, but there's something that they mentioned that we didn't know... Around 7:30, they say that they're going to release an image converter tool soon. This is great news, since it means that we don't have to discover the details of the g3p/g3b formats like we did with g3a, but we don't know how soon "soon" is. Mu guess is that it will be during the summer, to make sure that it's available when school starts again in autumn.

Casio Calculators / Authenticity is important
« on: May 08, 2011, 01:46:40 pm »
When porting a program, it's important to stick to what the original is like. In the case of this program, the original has not been played by most people who port the game - they've only played ports. This version of WFRNG doesn't include wacky fun random colars, but it's much closer to what the 86+ version is like... Well, as close as you'll get in Casio-BASIC.

BECAUSE WE ALWAYS NEED MORE WFRNG CLONES.

Casio Calculators / Prizm Icon Design Guidelines
« on: May 05, 2011, 12:33:40 pm »
First, I would like to thank Tari for his icon creation and extraction tools which helped me a lot when creating this topic, and everyone else involved in Prizm hacking for allowing us all to be able to do what we can do with the Prizm right now.

Icons are a part of Prizm add-ins that are usually considered unimportant. They don't affect the add-in itself, but it's still a good idea to create a nice set of icons for any program. Users will see it even when they aren't running the program, and if the Main Menu is full of icons that don't adhere to a few guidelines, navigating the menu can be confusing.

Style
The object that's the main focus of the icon shouldn't take up all of the 92x64 pixels that it has access to. It should generally be a bit smaller since the background and other elements also need a bit of space. The official icons from Casio are somewhat colorful, a bit 3D-looking, have shadows and are slightly translucent. You can follow the style of these if you want to, or create your own kind of icon. 2D sprites usually work fine if they aren't too similar to the backgrounds.

Example icons:

Selected/Unselected
In all add-ins, two icons must be provided - the selected icon, and the unselected icon. The two icons should show the same objects with different backgrounds - not objects that are completely different from each other or the same objects with minor variations. There is one exception, though. When placing text in the icon (this should only be done in special cases, not for writing the name of the add-in!), the text in the unselected icon should be white with a black outline and the text in the selected icon should be black with a white outline. Run-Matrix and Equation are examples of this. The unselected icon needs to have a pure black background, and the selected icon needs to have this background:

If no custom icon has been made for your program, the background with nothing on top of it should be used for the selected icon. Never make the selected icon pure black!

Areas drawn by the OS
The Prizm OS is a bit unusual when it comes to icons, as it draws on top of certain areas. Those areas are marked in red here:

The square on the top right area of the icon will always be completely unseen, and anything important shouldn't be placed there. However, hiding defects or other odd things there is not recommended, since some users might use something other than the OS to view the icons. The larger area on the bottom is where the name of the add-in will be placed. The main focus of the icon shouldn't be under it, but the area won't be completely covered, so things that aren't very important can be placed there. For example, a small part of the ruler in the icons of Conversion and Geometry is placed there, and an unimportant part of one of the images in the Picture Plot icon is also placed there. The name of the add-in should never be included in the icon since the OS takes care of including it.

Other / Need some help with booting from USB
« on: April 29, 2011, 12:20:43 pm »
I used the instructions here to download the DVD ISO of Linux Mint 10 and then I put it on my USB drive using the program that was linked to in the description. I'm now trying to boot from the USB drive (it's 2 GB), but my computer doesn't seem to recognize it... I'm not sure if it can boot from USB at all. Is it possible? The BIOS is  Phoenix TrustedCore 2.70 and my computer is a Toshiba laptop purchased in autumn 2008.

Other Calculators / a video about the cx or something

Hmm, I wonder why they start an Nspire video with downloading the 83+ SDK... They clearly have no idea of what they're talking about. And why are the students browsing Facebook?

News / Prizm OS 1.02 available for download
« on: February 01, 2011, 01:41:15 am »
Casio has released version 1.02 of the Prizm OS on their website, along with trial software for the Prizm. According to Casio it adds "new 10 eActivities!!".

However, it appears that this OS is a different version of the 01.02.0200 OS that was pre-loaded on certain calculators, because these calculators did not have the Locate command glitch with non-ASCII characters, but this copy of OS 01.02.0200 re-introduces it, so do NOT update if you already have 01.02.0200 installed!!!

https://edu.casio.com/download_service/download/category.php

The update is only compatible with the fx-CG10. Nothing is known about when the fx-CG20 will be updated. The update file is a zipped exe (about 11 MB).

General Calculator Help / WFRNG source code
« on: December 18, 2010, 02:13:20 pm »
Can anyone post the WFRNG (original version for the TI-86) source code? I'm very interested in reading it, but I don't have a TI-86 or TI-86 emulator. Alternatively, if someone knows how I can open the code myself using a PC program, that would also be good.

This may or may not be related to my secret project ;)

General Calculator Help / IDList
« on: December 12, 2010, 05:21:59 am »
What is IDList? It appears on my calc when I use TI DeviceInfo, but I don't understand its purpose. I can't open it on-calc, but it seems like my calc ID is in IDList. Do other IDs appear in this list if I link and send IDs? Why is it useful to have a list of IDs? Did TI just decide to slap on another pointless feature? ???

Gaming Discussion / RPGs with multiple parts
« on: November 25, 2010, 01:44:59 pm »
This is something I've been wondering about for a while, since I haven't played any games like this. Some RPGs, such as ones on the 360 (or calculators :P) are split into multiple parts (for consoles, one disc is one part) due to size reasons. How are the games split in these parts gameplay-wise? Do the different parts contain similar maps, or are there different continents or such for different parts? Is it common to be able to go back to earlier parts of the game? And also, is the change of part usually paired with something like a plot twist?

Computer Projects and Ideas / Mr. Mudkip series
« on: November 20, 2010, 03:23:42 pm »
Mr. Mudkip started as a joke game I slapped together in a few hours. As time passed, more games were made and they became famous on a few Swedish forums I used to visit. The newer games are definitely more advanced than the first game, but they are still joke games. Expect bad spelling and graphics! (and epic lulz)

The third game in the main series, Mr. Mudkip 3, was started about a year ago. I couldn't continue with it due to my lack of experience with battle engines - right now, the battle mechanics are mostly non-functioning (although it looks like they are somewhat complete). I've recently started working on it again, but I have no idea if it will ever be finished.

All of the games can be downloaded in a single .exe file:
