Hi everyone, I recently did a fresh install of windows on my computer and re installed the Student software provided for my calculator. While trying to activate it it asks me to connect my calculator. I do this and then it tells me that my calculator was already used to activate a Student software program thing.  Does anyone know another way to transfer files to the Nspire CX CAS without the student software? I've heard of TILP but I wasn't sure if it was compatible with the CX CAS. I already emailed TI about it but they have not replied yet.

So far Omnimaga has not been blocked at my school. Hopefully it stays that way. I try not to go on it much there because all forums that I know of are blocked and I'm afraid that if I visit Omnimga more than once a week or so they might see that it's a forum and block it. Does Omnimaga have an android app? I ask because I have a smart phone and it would be pretty nice to be able to check the forums through an app.

I wanted to do something like this to:
1. Get better at Java coding since I'm taking an AP course on Computer Science and Java is the language that were using.
2. Force me to learn C or Assembly because I think that I need to learn either if not both of those languages as well.
3. Help out everyone else that wants to use Java on the Nspire.
I think that doing something like this will help me become a better programmer in general which is why i want to do it. Also I think if I start it and get it going maybe people will end up joining the project and helping out. The problem is that I am busy with school so it will take a while but I'm still willing to learn and try.

Does anyone know what happened to this idea? I'm not a great programmer yet but I'm willing to learn and try to help out. It seems that all of these Java for Nspire projects die out quickly. I'm sure that many people including me would like to have java on the Nspire (I'm learning java in my computer science class). What can I do to help make it happen?

At my school only a few of the upper level math classes have a class set of Ti-84's and some have a couple Ti-83's. You are also able to borrow a Ti-83 from our library for the year if you are in AP Statistics.

It depends. Some people type faster on their TI-83+ ABC keyboards than their computer one. On the TI-84+ it's another story, though, since keys aren't even aligned properly.
Wow, I guess I've just not spent enough time on my calculator to get quick at typing with it. The qwerty layout has 3 rows, the Nspire has 4..
It looks like it might work if we used the EE, ?!, π, and (the flag looking key) but that is just for the letters. Maybe it's not such a great idea since you would probably have to type without looking at the keyboard to not get confused with the letters.

This is great idea but how would you would have to type things out on that ABC keyboard. Wouldn't that be a little slow? Maybe we can re map the keyboard to be qwerty within the IDE so that it looks like ABC but in reality its qwerty.

I think you have to press the reset button under the calculator (I don't own a CX though, can anyone confirm?).
Yes, pressing the reset button should do the job. On OS <= 1.7 for Clickpad & Touchpad, it erases the memory, but not so on the CX (whose oldest OS version is 3.0.1.1753).
Pressing the reset button worked. The calculator goes into standby mode automatically. Thanks for the help.

I did receive a couple of reports about the APD not working anymore while using Ndless. But I don't have any clues whether it's Ndless-related or a side effect of some Ndless program. And I didn't manage to reproduce it on my Clickpad.
- Did you resinstall Ndless by upgrading it (a popup on the calculator side tells you that you are upgrading) or by reinstalling the OS, then Ndless?
- Does rebooting the CX fix the problem?
- Could you please tell me exactly what are all the program you are using (the ones you run from the Documents screen and those you may have put in Ndless's startup folder)?
- Do you remember any change on your calculator between the moment the APD worked and the moment it didn't, expect the upgrade of Ndless?

After that I noticed that it wouldn't sleep automatically. My calculator, which is a CX CAS, still enters standby mode automatically still. Maybe you accidentally edited the settings?

Then power standby. Check it to make sure it's on one minute or something short, rather then 5 days o.O
I already checked that. I have the screen dim set to 30 sec and the power stand by set to 1 minute. Still nothing happens after one minute.

I installed Ndless on my Ti-Nspire CX CAS a couple days ago and have noticed that it will not go into standby mode automatically anymore. Is this a common thing with Ndless? I also had Ndless installed on my calculator without any problems before but now that I re-installed it it wont go into standby mode when I just leave it. It's not a big deal but my battery dies faster if I forget to turn it off. Does anyone know how to fix this? By the way I installed ndless-v3.1-beta-r685 and also have used polydumper to get an emulator running on my computer if that makes any difference.

Actually, the best way to learn C is to get computer science courses at college, other than that, a good tutorial can get you started and if you learn how to read documentation and/or .h files, the sky is the limit.
I'm already taking a course on Java at my HighSchool but they don't offer C. What are .h files? I know that you create .c files when programming in c but what's .h? Thanks

That's a courageous choice of yours - most people give up on the closed CX CAS platform and use something more open, such as a computer, a Raspberry Pi (significantly more powerful than a Nspire but four to six times cheaper), an Ordroid-X, etc
In French, the Site du Zéro tutorials can be a good source of information; I don't know which are the best English-speaking resources for learning C.
Thanks for the reference but I don't speak French. I chose the CX CAS because I use it nearly every day for school but I'm still planning on getting a raspberry pi. 1.Start with a good tutorial, this one, for example: http://computer.howstuffworks.com/c23.htm/printable; 2. Do some simple programming (there are tons of C source code samples in the net); 3. If you don't get bored, buy a good book (scan its contents beforehand) it will help you to clear up some doubts. Here is a good and cheap (<$10) one: http://www.amazon.com/Book-C-Al-Kelley/dp/0805368604. Yeah, it looks old (1984) but so is the language (1972): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C_language
LBNL, do not wait for the best choice, maybe it will never come up. So the answer to your question is: you'll need both: tutorial(s)+book(s). Good readings.
I'll probably end up buying the book but for now I'll just work on the tutorials. An what do you mean by LBNL, I don't think that I have ever seen that before? Thanks
