TI cares and all of that useless filler stuff.
We recommend that You purchase the most expensive calc we make, as it someday may be more oriented to programming...
more useless filler stuff. We are sorry for any inconveniences
regards, [insert TI staff here]

Not any harder for them to say.

I'm right there with you, Scout. We should really message TI and threaten to organize a boycott of the Nspire if they kill asm support in the 84+ models.
I'm unsure that would work. I think the best thing to do is to get teachers to promote the Prizm instead of the CX, or if TI really blocks ASM in the final version of this OS, the 84+ too.

However, it's gonna be impossible to hurt the calcs popularity at school I am pretty sure, so no matter if this comes out or not, I think people should still develop ASM/BASIC programs for the OS and try to advertise the eventual patches in all their programs.

Otherwise, another idea to smoothen the transition from 84+ to Prizm stuff: A TI-84 Plus emulator for the Casio Prizm. That way, people who wanted a 84+ to play games or code for it could simply try to find a ROM online and use the emulator. Else, to get rid of legal issues, someone could write a 8xp emulator for the Prizm so at least assembly and Axe games can somewhat be run.

And most importantly, keep OS 2.43 or 2.55MP copies around, in case.

I have 2.43 and 2.53MP on my thumb drive and computer.  I also have ROMs for them.  ;)

Spoiler For =====My Projects=====:
Minor setback due to code messing up.  On hold for Contest.

Well, to be honest, even if this was a joke, I still would have thought they could do this for real eventually, or simply discontinue the 84+ as soon as most people start getting the Nspire instead. In fact I've been a bit worried ever since OS 2.1 release.

I'm not gonna discourage myself from ever coding again on this calc because of this OS, but I lost trust in TI long ago.

Yeah. Some management person has really lost their mind at TI, to order their developers to defile their own product like this.

In other news, the rick roll has been removed again from youtube due to Rick Astley losing money on it. Source.

I second DJ's motion. Handle your 84+'s with care and be careful with your OS's. But continue to develop. Don't be discouraged. As long as we can still use 2.43 (I will always have a copy on hand, so that will be always), we win.

I don't think so, but a few pages ago I think someone posted an app that can bypass the 2 pages limit thing to run DCS7 and other apps. Not sure, though. Besides that I bet the only way would be to do the same thing as Mallard for the TI-73 and Zshell for the TI-85, which involves sending an hacked backup of the RAM to the calc.
