Sounds good.  @dragon_lance: Yes this game is in BASIC as that is the language that the majority of us know.

I agree w/ dragon_lance about the leader not having to be the best coder.  The leader should be someone who can make decisions and have enough time to keep this project running and organized.  Volunteers or suggestions as to who???

As I said b4, I would volunteer, but just don't come to me with those hard programming questions, unless we really need it, in which case I'll have to ask my dad :Dbiggrin.gif.

I'll be a leader if you don't mind... I don't really mind ether... about the AI for a TBS game, just have a list of all the coords and what kind of enemy there are on the screen (WITH the sameish thing in a mat?) then when it's the enemy's turn just look at where it can move and if you of your guys is there, attacking is another thing entirely

Mmmmm, I still think that it would take more time then what I had originally planned.  This project shouldn't take too long, I just wanted it more to a) make a group project for publicity and B)cool.gif get good working relationships with other OPS staff members.

As for the leader thing, that works for me, just as long as I can get  some power over storyline stuff b/c that's my forte (strenght for those of us who don't speak french).

Of course! (besides, I'd be more like a "orginazer" than a leader :Dbiggrin.gif)

sound good, i vote either BcTurk, CDI, or Xlibman(if he wants too) as leader. As for a TBS card game, i still think itd be almost impossible in basic. Ur method works, but the AI would kinda be stupid in moving randomly :(sad.gif . And as u stated, Attacking just adds to the complexity.

As for organization, i think we should get into groups like professional game making companies

Director-

Programmers-

Graphics-

etc....(plot will include all)
As for me, i'd volluteer to be a main, or secondary programmer ;)wink.gif

RPG I think is the way to go.  As I said before, this isn't supposed to be a long project, so a TBS AI is kinda out of the range of the time.  Also, the breakdown of responsibilities will probably handle its self.  We will see, if it becomes too much of a problem, we will break it down.

One other thing, when do we want to go public with the program?  If and when we go public, do we dare release any real info?  I would sujest a project title, aka Project: Shadow, or something like that.

Don't go public with the program until you have some progress on it. That way it will prove this is not one of those programming groups that just says they have something, then never releases.

Also, I would also have to be a secondary programmer, as I am quite busy right now...

well, we are going rpg, so...probably graphics and some planning if the project is complex.

Hmmm...would it be out landish to suggest having a real time battle engine...one enemy, rpg?  Perhaps something like Mega Man Battle network...but with the actual grid you fight on also be the enviroment in which their are houses and trees and such like in this mock up.

Or perhaps something like that, but turn based with multiple enemies moving and all

I absoutely loved the magaman games on gameboy!
network system is nice, but though going realtime the calc shpuld have enough processing power for 2 enemies... 1 enemy at a time is kinda boring ;)wink.gif

Hmm, maybe, we could do, instead of RTB because well... RTB is kinda harder and slower than normal battles couldn't we do TBS in a mini style (on say a 8x8 grid for the battles?)

Possibilby, and with like 2-4 enemies, your "party" could have 1-3 ppl, no?

Also, I'm changing up the storyline some today, do we still want to go with SciFi?

Well, if it were real time, you could possibly put in up to 3 (thats the most I ever reasonably managed, but on an SE)...but if you only had one enemy at a time, they could be very strong and difficult and smart

It is possible to have multiple group games at the same time, at least if they are short and simple games (not crapy, just not overly deep...say 4-5 enemies and 4-5 items types of deals)
